The model began as a z-sphere rig that was posed and then sculpted over to match the reference, and then eventually re-topologized and textured. I've been cataloguing my more recent progress at artstation.com/phil-sanchez/blog
The figure sculpt was originally a short assignment for a "Dynamic Figure Sculpting" course taught by Daniel Williams at Vertex School. I learned a lot from the initial sketch, and when the course was finished, i just kept coming back to the model: it sort of became a "background project" I would turn to in my free time as a way to test new sculpting workflows or practice anatomy.
